On September 9, 2020, on-line negotiations were held between the management of UWED and Nippon Academy.

The Japanese side was represented by the Director of Nippon Academy Mr. Shimizu Masumi and the Head of the International Department Ms. Taemi Kashiwazaki. On behalf of UWED, the meeting was attended by the Vice-Rector for International Relations prof. Saidkasimov S.S., Head of the International Cooperation Department Mukhitdinov A.I. and Head of the department "Oriental languages" Gafurova Kh.Sh.

The videoconferencing was attended by students of the 2nd and 3rd courses of the UWED Abdullaev Abdulzafar (2nd year, IER), Adizov Jakhongir (3rd year, IER) and Dzhanieva Gulhayo (3rd year, IR), who took an active part in the summer Japanese language courses in Nippon Academy.

The meeting was moderated by prof. Saidkasimov S.S. It was noted that the successful visit of the President of Uzbekistan Sh.M. Mirziyoyev to Japan gave a new impetus to intensify the scientific and educational ties of UWED with Japanese universities further.

Prof. Saidkasimov S.S. especially thanked Professor Taemi Kashiwazaki Nippon Academy for the successful organization of summer courses in Japanese from July to August of this year for 8 UWED students, in which 3 Japanese language teachers of the UWED also took part.

Mr. Shimizu Masumi informed that last year the Nippon Academy was visited by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Japan G. Fozilov, who got acquainted with the activities of the educational institution.

During the online meeting, various issues of mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation were discussed, as well as priority areas of interaction. In particular, the issues of organizing online lectures on the study of Japanese by UWED students with the participation of lecturers from the Nippon Academy were considered.

The Japanese side expressed interest in establishing educational ties with the UWED. One of the important points of the meeting was the discussion of the issue of signing a Cooperation Agreement between UWED and Nippon Academy.

The parties agreed to hold similar meetings of representatives of the Nippon Academy and UWED on a regular basis to resolve practical issues of developing bilateral cooperation promptly.

For reference: Nippon Academy is a group of educational institutions in Maebashi City, Gunma Prefecture. The main task of the school is to organize and conduct practical Japanese classes. The Nippon Academy group of educational institutions includes four schools: NIPPON Language Academy (founded 1990), NIPPON Bunka Gakuin (opened 2014), NIPPON OMOTENASHI College (opened 2013) and NIPPON HEIWA Gakuin (opened 2017).
