On April 26 a meeting was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy with the Spanish writer and translator Marta Ingrid Rebon Rodriguez. She is one of the leading experts in the Spanish-speaking world for literature in Russian. Marta Rebon is now in Uzbekistan at the invitation of the Spanish Embassy to study the influence that Uzbekistan had on world literature, in particular, during the evacuation during the II World War, when Anna Akhmatova, Lidia Chukovskaya, Nadezhda Mandelstam and Evgenia Pasternak lived in Tashkent. The stay of Anna Akhmatova in Tashkent and her participation in the literary life of Uzbekistan are the subject of a special study by the researcher.
During the meeting, Vice-Rector for Youth Affairs and Spiritual and Educational Work Yusufjanov Odil and Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of Spain in Uzbekistan Gonzalo Fournier Conde spoke. Doctor of Philology, laureate of the State Prize named after Abu Raykhan Beruniy-Rano Ibragimova and Candidate of Philology Associate Professor Shoira Normatova also spoke.
In addition, Spanish language students performed a short skit in Spanish from the novel “Days Gone By” by Abdulla Qadiriy and a poem by Anna Akhmatova in Russian and Spanish. The event turned out to be very informative and interesting, giving the participants an opportunity to broaden their horizons and learn more about the culture and literature of Spain.
