At the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, a meeting was hold on the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Norway to the Republic of Uzbekistan with the residence in Oslo, Mr. Ole Juhan Burny. By students, undergraduates, as well as the teaching staffs of UWED were attended in that conference.

Mr. Yu. Burney in his speech described in detail the main directions of the EU’s foreign policy activity, new trends in world and European regional politics, described in detail the issues of his country's foreign policy, the state and prospects of Uzbek-Norwegian relations.

The ambassador emphasized that in Norway, as well as in the European Union as a whole, they perceive very positively the fundamentally new policy of the President of Uzbekistan Sh.M.Mirziyoyev, the readiness of Uzbekistan for effective cooperation with all interested partners.

During the meeting, which took place in a relaxed atmosphere, a effective and interesting exchange of views took place on pressing issues of European and international politics, including the problem of “Brexit” and, in general, on the complex processes taking place in the European Union at present.

 Among the speakers with a presentation of the comprehensive analytical material of the Norwegian government, “The Interests and Role of Norway in Multilateral Cooperation,” Mr. J.Kvistad, Senior Advisor to the Department for Russia, Eurasia and Regional Cooperation of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, spoke. Vice-rector UMED prof. S.Saidkasimov made a general review of the state and prospects of relations between Uzbekistan and the EU countries.

During a lively discussion in English, speakers answered numerous questions from teachers and students of the UWED.
