A lecture on the topic was hold in the conference hall of the UWED which is “Working with and for young people: UN and OHCHR perspectives”.

It was conducted by George Konstantinos Sharonis, one of the head of the project on youth rights, as well as Mr. Richard Komenda, who took over the duties of the OHCHR ROCA Regional Representative in May 2016. (before that he worked as a Senior Human Rights Advisor at the UN in the Russian Federation).

Lecturers provided interesting facts about the young generation of the whole world and introduced the participants of this event to the Youth 2030 program (UN 2030) - the UN Youth Strategy aimed to expanding and strengthening commitments at the global, regional and national levels in order to meet the needs of youth, help them realize their rights, and recognize the beneficial contribution of young people to positive change. Guests answered numerous questions of teachers and students.

At the end of the lecture, which was held in English, the event participants shared their opinions and suggestions on the youth policy of Uzbekistan and the UN. They also considered proposals for the preparation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Youth, which is pointed at nurturing and implementing youth policy in the context of globalization, would affect being a pioneer by the Republic of Uzbekistan.
