Students of the International Law faculty of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, members of the “Club of Young Legislators” of the Institute of Legislation and Parliamentary studies under the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan took part in an international scientific and practical seminar on “Actual issues of monitoring the effectiveness of adopted laws (Post legislative scrutiny): experience of Uzbekistan and foreign countries”.  The seminar was attended by deputies of the Legislative Chamber and members of the Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The seminar was devoted to studying the experience of foreign countries in improving rulemaking, developing and adopting bills, and assessing their implementation.  At the seminar, Franklin de Vries, chief adviser on public policy issues at the Westminster Democracy Fund, spoke in detail about the powers of parliamentary committees to oversee the implementation of legislation, the basics of monitoring the effectiveness of laws adopted in national parliaments.

At the end of the seminar, proposals for further improving monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of laws adopted by the Chambers of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan were summarized.
