International Day of Universal Access to Information

On the basisof the resolution of UNESCO, September 28 was declared the International Day of Universal Access to Information. At the initiative of the UN Information Bureau in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the I Central Asian seminar was organized on the topic “Access to Information: Strengthening Academic Influence”. It was held in the conference hall of the UN Information Bureau in Almaty. It discussed the importance of access to information in the context of further expanding and strengthening the Sustainable Development of Central Asian countries in the field of information activities.

The seminar participants - scientists, journalists, researchers, students and media workers of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Australia shared their work experience, discussed difficulties and problems on the ground in collecting and preparing materials for information channels. The workshop was moderated by the head of the UN Department of Public Information in Almaty, Samek Vlastilin, and the head of the Department of Press and Electronic Media of the Journalism Department of the Kazakh National University, Professor Gulmira Serikbaevna Sultanbaeva. From Uzbekistan participated Doctor of Philology, Professor of the Department of Socio-Political Sciences of the UMED Fatima Muminova, Doctor of Philology, Associate Professor of the National University of Uzbekistan Yakutkhon Mamatova, doctoral student of the Uzbek University of Journalism and Mass Communications Nodira Musaeva. At the forum, Professor Muminova F.I made a presentation "Problems of access to information in the practice of journalists."

At the end of the international seminar, the participants presented and approved the project for creating the Association of Central Asian Universities on Journalism and its Charter. Within the framework of this Association, scientific and educational projects, conferences, meetings to strengthen cooperation between the Central Asian republics in the field of journalism and information activities will be organized.
