The festival "Week of European Languages"

From April 22 to April 26 at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, on the initiative of professors and teachers of the department of "Romano-Germanic languages", the festival "Week of European Languages" was held. During this week, a number of social and cultural events were held.
The festival began on April 22 with an exhibition “European national cuisine”. In particular, the students, having prepared delicious dishes and sweets of Spanish, Italian, German and French national cuisine, presented them in the “Ecobar” of the university. Visitors to the exhibition, professors, students and university administration had an opportunity to purchase these dishes, as well as try them. The fundings received from this exhibition amounted to 1.5 million soums, and these funds were sent to the U.K.Kurbanov Children's Psycho-Neurological Hospital. Teachers of the Department of Romano-Germanic Languages and university activists visited the above-mentioned medical institution as organizers of this auction and handed over art books, educational supplies and personal care products to children in the hospital, wishing them a speedy recovery.
On April 22 at 14:30 the football tournament between nominal national teams of Spain, Italy, France, Germany and England started. A qualifying round and semi-final matches were held. As a result of uncompromising battles in front of their classmates, friends, and visiting this tournament in order to support their students' teachers and football fans, the teams Bavaria and Borussia Dortmund reached the final. Third place was shared by the teams of Spain and France.
On April 24, the final match between the two German teams was held. Respectable guests from the Football Association of Uzbekistan were invited to the decisive match. This match was highly appreciated by the well-known football commentator, author of the book “On my true admirers of age-old football” Akhbor Imomhuzhaev, as well as the best judge of the year of Uzbekistan, five times the best judge of the Asian continent, winner of the Global Football Awards Prize Ravshan Ermatov. Thus, the Borussia Dortmund team won in the final with a 3: 1 score. Then, a meeting was held in the conference hall, dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the tragic death of the “Paxtakor” team.
On April 25, a competition was held under the title "Expert of French, German and Spanish languages" among students of the department of "Romano-Germanic languages" who chose these languages as their second foreign language.
On April 26, the closing ceremony of the festival was held in the university hall. In this event, the University’s Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, M.T. Bakoyev, delivered a speech, stressing the importance of holding such socio-cultural events in the process of learning foreign languages. This ceremony also included a concert program, in the framework of which UWED activists spoke impressing foreign guests, fellow students and professors-teachers with their performances. Especially the guests liked the Spanish national dance Flamenco, as well as the Bavarian and French dances. In the final part of the concert, the organizers and activists of this event were awarded commemorative diplomas by the university administration.
