On the initiative of UNESCO and the Kazakh National University. Al-Farabi hosted the VI International Winter School of Journalism and Communication in Ile-Alatau State National Park, in the “Tau-Turan” complex. (Kazakhstan). It was dedicated to the World Radio Day and had the theme “Radio Tolerance, Dialogue and Peace”. It was attended by scientists, journalists, teachers, media leaders, students from Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Karakalpakstan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, New Zealand. The work of the international forum as a moderator and lecturer from Uzbekistan was attended by Doctor of Philology, Professor of the Department of Social and Political Sciences of the UWED F.I. Muminova.

In presentations and discussions, attention was paid to the activities of radio as the most efficient means of disseminating information, its dialogue, accessibility and widespread use in India, African countries, remote, mountainous areas of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan. Many shared their experience in the media space, noted achievements and problems, talked about the method of creating a site in the online radio mode. Journalists from Afghanistan, for example, spoke about the features of work in emergency, conflict situations, gave facts about the death of journalists covering the events in their country. Professor of the University of Central Asia Evangelia Papoutsaki made a presentation on the role of radio in the development of communication and social change. For the participants of the winter school were organized a creative evening with the performance of songs, poems and dances of the peoples of Central Asia, as well as a tourist trip to the places of interest in Almaty.
