On April 10, the Faculty of Executive Education of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, together with the Civil Service Development Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, launched the educational program “New challenges in the field of foreign economic activity under current international conditions”.

Opening remarks were given by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy Sodyq Safoev.

In his speech, he drew attention to the relevance of the agenda of the program, given the global nature of the ongoing economic crisis.

The program is intended for managers and specialists of legal departments of banks, large companies and other structures involved in the field of foreign economic activity.

The training is aimed at developing a systemic understanding of the principles of international sanctions, the legal framework and practice of their application. In particular, it is planned to study the jurisdictions of the US, EU, UK, the application of secondary sanctions (export control/impact on the financial sector and business) within the framework of international law and the practice of considering such cases in international arbitration.

Classes are taught by professors of the University of Glasgow Christian J. Tams, well-known in the international academic and expert community, and Antonios Tzanakopoulos, expert Eleni Methymaki from the University of Oxford. The lecturers have extensive experience in conducting similar programs at leading universities in the world, acted as consultants on international law for individual states, international organizations and companies.

The educational process takes place in the form of interactive seminars and discussions based on examples (case studies) from international practice coming from the experience of Uzbekistan.

Upon completion of the program, students will be awarded international certificates.
