In the framework of her official visit to Uzbekistan Slovenia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Tanja Fajon had a meeting with the administration and students of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.

The visit started with bilateral negotiations between the administration of the university and the delegation led by Tanja Fajon, which comprised of Slovenian entrepreneurs. Issues regarding the development of inter-parliamentary relations between Uzbekistan and Slovenia, as well as cooperation between the two countries in the field of science, cultural, humanitarian and higher education were discussed at the bilateral meeting. Economic relations between the two countries were the main focus of discussions. Both sides highly regarded the recent agreements reached on economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Slovenia. Sodyq Safoev, the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy stressed on the importance of “not only sharing knowledge but values as well”.

Regarding the cooperation in the education field, the sides took a look at the prospects of establishing several exchange programs for students and professors of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. 

Tanja Fajon mentioned that this is her first time visiting Uzbekistan and expressed hope for further visits and cooperation on a deeper level.

Then an official meeting between the students of the university, Slovenia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Tanja Fajon and the rector, Sodyq Safoev was held. A short video clip on Slovenia was demonstrated to students at the beginning of the meeting. Afterwards, Tanja Fajon gave a brief speech on bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Slovenia, her career, main focuses of Slovenia in international arena and more. Then the floor was given to students of the UWED, who got the chance to speak to the Deputy Prime Minister of Slovenia and ask questions that interest them.

After the questions were answered, the meeting was ended and Tanja Fajon and Sodyk Safoev both expressed hope for further strengthening of bilateral cooperation.
