The University of World Economy and Diplomacy and Luiss University aim at long term collaboration

The University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) and Luiss University (Italy) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on long-term cooperation. The document was signed by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Rector of UWED Sodyq Safoev and Rector of Luiss Professor Andrea Prencipe. The signing ceremony was also attended by Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the two countries Otabek Akbarov and Agostina Pinna.
The future collaboration will be directed at development and delivery of joint Executive Education programs for professional development; collaboration on a joint Master Program; faculty and staff exchange (training programs, research projects, exchange of educational materials); other academic activities.
The two universities already have a successful experience of cooperation. In November 2022 UWED jointly with Luiss Business School delivered an educational program «Contemporary Industrial Policy». The program was part of a pilot joint project of UWED with the Agency for Development of Civil Service under the President of Uzbekistan's office.
An internationally recognized expert in the field of management, sustainable development and competitive strategies, professor of the Faculty of Economics of Luiss Business School Matteo Giuliano Caroli has delivered the program. Mr. Caroli is a Director of the Center for Applied Research and author of numerous articles in prestigious international editions.
The topics have covered Traditional and Contemporary approaches to industrial policy, Industrial policies for sustainable development, Clusters and cluster organizations in Europe, the EU resilience strategy and the Italian National recovery and resilience plan, cases of Japan’s and Singapore’s industrial development. During the program, the German Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Dr. Tilo Klinner presented the case of German experience in developing of innovative industrial clusters.
The educational process has taken place in the form of interactive seminars and discussions, based on cases from international practice. Participants have been awarded joint certificates of UWED and Luiss upon completion of the program.
It should be noted that on September 21 this year, a visit of UWED representatives to Luiss-Libera was organized with the help of the USAID LRP cooperation program, during which the details of the memorandum of understanding were agreed.
