On 22-25 August 2022, a short-term training was held on the legal features of the WTO Agreements on Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) and on the Application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (SPS) to a group of professors and students from the UWED, as well as representatives of different public offices.

The training was organized within the project: “Facilitating the Process of Uzbekistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization”, which is funded by the European Union and implemented by the International Trade Centre (Geneva, Switzerland) in cooperation with the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The training was delivered by professor Arthur Appleton, a prominent expert in the field. During the interactive sessions, the participants were able to better understand the regulatory policy space that WTO Members enjoy under the TBT and SPS agreements. The training aimed at increasing Uzbekistan’s WTO awareness and aiding its accession negotiations.
