According to the law adopted on February 10, 2021 at the initiative of the head of our state, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, July 30 in Uzbekistan is celebrated as People’s Friendship Day.

To mark this date, the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendship Cooperation with Foreign Countries, together with a number of organizations, is holding a Friendship Festival in our country from July 30 to August 7.

As part of the festival, on August 5, an international conference was organized at the "International Hotel of Tashkent" on the topic "Ensuring interethnic harmony in the countries of Central Asia."

The event was attended by a representative of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Cabinet of Ministers, representatives of international organizations and the diplomatic corps, national cultural centers, religious denominations of Uzbekistan, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, media representatives, as well as UWED students.

The conference was attended by high-ranking officials from foreign countries; Karakalpakstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan; leading experts; international and regional organizations; and civil society institutions.

The main goal of the international conference was to unite the information and scientific potential of the countries of Central Asia to ensure interethnic harmony and the rapprochement of their cultures, as well as to strengthen the atmosphere of good neighborliness and friendship between the countries of Central Asia.

As a result of the event, a collection of conference materials was published. Recommendations of the conference were developed and adopted, contributing to ensuring interethnic harmony, cooperation, solidarity, and friendly relations between the countries of Central Asia.

In the cultural and humanitarian spheres, the roles of national cultural centers and friendship associations have been strengthened.
