On July 14, 2022, a meeting was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy with the participation of Dr. Ikboljon Qoraboyev on the topic “The problem of predatory publications from the global South perspective”. The meeting was attended by faculty members and doctoral students of UWED.

UWED graduate Ikboljon Qoraboyev received his Ph.D. from the University of Toulouse, France, and is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of International Relations at KAZGUU University named after M. Narikbaev in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, and a researcher at the UNU-CRIS Institute in Belgium.

During the meeting, Dr. Ikboljon Qoraboyev made a presentation on predatory journals, their background and features, as well as the reasons why scientists and researchers publish their works in predatory journals and their consequences. The scientist emphasized the negative impact of publishing articles in predatory journals on the scientific potential of the author.

At the end of the meeting, participants had the opportunity to get answers to their questions.
