The article of the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sodiq Safaev “Development Strategy of Uzbekistan” was published in the South Korean newspaper “The Korea Herald”.

The article says that сonsidering that the renewed domestic and foreign policy pursued under President Mirziyoyev’s leadership finds support among the people, also the first stage of modernization, associated with the implementation of priority tasks, has been successfully completed and the next stage of reforms will undoubtedly involve more complex, fundamental political and economic reforms, after a nationwide discussion, Uzbekistan adopted the Development Strategy for 2022-2026, consisting of seven priority areas.

“The development strategy for the next five years is based on the principles of a social market economy, secular democratic state of law, the highest respect for a person’s dignity, and achievement of sustainable environmental development”, the article says.

In his article, the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate spoke in detail about the seven priorities of the development strategy of Uzbekistan and the tasks set within these areas.

In particular, within the framework of the third priority area of the development of the national economy, its growth rates at the level of modern requirements, there are plans to increase GDP per capita by 1.6-fold by 2030, and average income to over $4,000.

The article also notes that the development of relations with the Republic of Korea is one of the important priority areas of Uzbekistan’s foreign policy. South Korea is a long-standing, proven strategic, and reliable partner of Uzbekistan, which supports the independence and sovereignty of Uzbekistan, and the consistent and systematic nature of the reforms carried out in the country.

“The historic visit of the Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Seoul in 2021 opened new horizons for the strategic partnership between our countries”, the author writes.

The First Deputy Chairman of the Senate concludes his article with the following opinion: “positive results of long-term goals and efforts will not belong in coming. Uzbekistan, as a democratic, sustainable developing country, will continue to strengthen its position in the world community”.
