In the context of the globalization of the economy, knowledge of foreign languages ​​becomes an important information product that helps to objectively assess the situation on the world market and develop strategies to improve the efficiency of enterprises. For an economist, a foreign language opens the way to the most modern areas of practical economics. Experts say that it is impossible to become an economist without knowledge of a foreign language, because most of the concepts of economics have been developed in foreign countries.

On  February 23, 2022 the University of World Economy and Diplomacy  hosted an international conference on the topic “Modern Trends in Education: Foreign Languages and International Economy”, dedicated to the problems, solutions and achievements of distance learning, economics and teaching of foreign languages ​​in the context of economic globalization.

The agenda of the conference included the following topical issues:

  • the features of universal distance learning in various educational institutions: problems, experience, prospects;
  • current issues of teaching foreign languages ​​in international economics and management,
  • digital economy: business trends and prospects;
  • transition to the era of artificial intelligence: integration of various approaches,
  • turning translation into a pedagogical tool;
  • the importance of interdisciplinary integrative education in teaching foreign languages ​​(LSP) for specialization: experience, achievements, problems and solutions.

Professors of local universities such as the National University of Uzbekistan, the Uzbek State University of World Languages, the Tashkent State Pedagogical University made speeches  at the conference. And also the conference was attended online and offline by researchers and scientists from Columbia and Webster Universities in the USA, National University of Oil and Gas «Gubkin University» in Russia, the National University of Mordovia and Dresden Technical University.

One of the main goals of the conference was to involve  students of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, give them the opportunity to enjoy lectures by leading experts on modern trends, distance learning and the digital economy, further strengthen their knowledge and English language skills and, in this regard, in the process of organizing and holding the conference advanced students of the university in all directions were actively engaged. During the conference, students enjoyed  the opportunity of asking questions  to the speakers on a topic of interest to them.

In a word, the organizers of the international conference fully achieved their goals and objectives and were able to recieve warm and positive feedback not only from the UWED community, but also from the participating universities about the organization on  holding  the conference.
