Today, on February 25, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy hosted an international conference on the topic "Uzbekistan-Japan: the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and prospects for strengthening strategic cooperation".

The international conference, held in a hybrid form, was attended by senators, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Uzbekistan, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Japan, as well as representatives of higher educational institutions, state and non-state organizations of the two countries, media workers.

During the event, the results of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the prospects for strategic cooperation were discussed.

Opening the events, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy Sodyq Safoev noted that the historic visit of our President to the Land of the Rising Sun in 2019 opened new horizons for strategic partnership between our countries.

Speakers in their reports stressed that Japan is an important economic partner of Uzbekistan, having the most advanced technologies and experience in various sectors of the economy. For Uzbekistan, the business ethics of Japanese companies, high requirements for product quality and rejection of corruption are of particular importance.

The conference emphasized that an important mechanism for bilateral cooperation is the Central Asia + Japan dialogue, which for 17 years has become a platform for interaction between Tokyo and a strategically important region of the modern world, and further strengthening of inter-parliamentary ties is aimed at strengthening bilateral ties.

In addition, the participants placed special emphasis on cooperation within the framework of the inter-parliamentary forum "Uzbekistan-Japan", it was proposed to consider holding its next meeting in 2022 in Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of the conference, issues of strengthening bilateral cultural and humanitarian ties, cooperation in the field of education, further development of the investment and business environment, interaction on holding the Year of Uzbekistan in Japan and the Year of Japan in Uzbekistan in 2022 were discussed.
