UWED establishes relations with Carleton University of Canada

On February 2, 2022 negotiations were held in on-line format between Carleton University of Canada and the University of World Economy and Diplomacy under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.
Carleton University was represented by the director of the Norman Paterson School of international affairs at Carleton University (NPSIA) Jagadisen Sami, the director of the Institute for European, Russian and Eurasian studies at NPSIA Krina Wiju-Milosevic, the associate vice president and international relations officer prof. Karen Schwartz, and international relations manager at Carleton University Ridhima Perawali.
On behalf of UWED, the parties that participated in the negotiations were Rector S.Safoev, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation S.Saidkasymov, Vice-Rector of Research and Innovation G.Ismailova and Dean of the Faculty of International Relations M. Baxadirov.
Zh. Vahabov, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the USA and Canada, took an active part in organizing and holding the meeting.
During the meeting, S. Safoev described in detail the history of creation, structural divisions, educational areas and international cooperation of UWED, as well as briefly outlined the plan for the development of the University for the upcoming years.
Expressing gratitude for the organization of the event, the Canadian side informed about the activities of Carleton University, and expressed its interest in deepening cooperation with UWED in both educational and research fields.
Detailed exchange of information was held on the performances of the two higher educational institutions, and on the scientific potential and opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation in the field of training international specialists. Moreover, practical issues of further coordination of the exchange of students, researchers and teachers between the two universities were discussed.
An agreement was reached on the preparation and signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the partners in the forthcoming future.
For the reference: Carleton University is located in Ottawa, being one of the ten strongest universities in Canada. It is considered to be a major university, which educates more than 24,000 students. 17% of students are foreigners from all over the world. The academic staff of the educational institution includes more than 1100 teachers.
