Yesterday, the head of our country visited the “Uzbekistan GTL” plant in Kashkadarya region.

In fact, the area where the plant is located was a dry desert a few years ago. In a short period of time, a giant plant was built in this zone. The construction of this chemical cluster has always been in the focus of the President.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev also came here in 2017-2018 and got acquainted with the process. Despite the pandemic, work continued unabated. As a result, the plant is now fully built.

The total area of the plant, which is worth $ 3.42 billion, is 135 hectares. It should be noted that such a large-scale project has so far been implemented in only four countries in the world - Qatar, Nigeria, South Africa and Malaysia.

The fact that the plant is equipped with more than 10,000 pieces of equipment manufactured by about 130 leading companies in 24 countries, including Singapore, the United States, Japan, Korea, Italy, Germany and China, is a testament to the scale of the project. In particular, it is commendable that 140 unique international licenses and patents have been obtained in the world.

In his speech, the head of state touched upon the deepening of geological prospecting. It was noted that there is a lot of work to be done in this area, they need special raw materials.

Indeed, in a world transitioning to a green economy, geological research needs to be intensified using new geophysical equipment. The operation of such a huge structure, of course, requires a large amount of energy. The plant has an independent system in this regard. Significantly, 650 million kilowatt-hours of electricity are generated annually from the steam generated during the operation. In this way, the complex will be fully self-sufficient in electricity. In addition, Shurtan will be able to supply electricity to the gas-chemical complex and the plant under construction. In return, the saved electricity is sent to households. This system is also an indication of how perfectly planned the plant was, of course.

During the visit, the head of our state met with our young people who have been trained at the training of the American Honeywell Corporation, which operates in the central control center of the plant. Having acquired modern knowledge, learning foreign languages, gaining experience abroad, we say to our young people working in such huge factories: “Your knowledge is your greatest asset. Now I talked to a young cameraman from Karakalpakstan and he said that my salary is 15 million soums. I would like our young people to increase. To do this, encourage your peers in science and craft and follow them. We have started to establish 5 more chemical technology clusters in Tashkent, Navoi, Ferghana, Bukhara regions and Usyurt. Who works in them? Our own black eyes like yours”, he said.

At the opening ceremony of the “Uzbekistan GTL” plant, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan stressed that on the eve of the New Year it is a joy for all of us to witness another historic event that opens a bright page in the industry of our country. It is no exaggeration to say that the construction of such a large complex is a bright result of the state policy pursued in recent years to bring industrial development to a new level.

This plant is the largest in the country, in general, in the region in the field of petrochemical industry. The company plans to process 3.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas a year and produce 1.5 million tons of liquid products worth more than $1 billion.

In particular, 307,000 tons of jet fuel, 724,000 tons of diesel fuel, 437,000 tons of naphtha and 53,000 tons of liquefied gas will be produced.

It should be noted that these products will cover $ 500 million in imports, $ 200 million in exports and $ 2 trillion in tax revenues annually.

According to the International Energy Agency, GTL production will double by 2030. Therefore, the production of other types of products with higher added value is one of the plans of the company.

In particular, the plant plans to implement six projects worth $ 620 million for the production of alkyl-benzene, butene and hexene, synthetic oils, maleic anhydride, emulsion additives, catalysts.

In his speech, the President noted that the whole world is now moving to a “green economy” and is investing in trade. “Uzbekistan GTL” products fully meet the world’s largest environmental requirements and standards. It was noted that synthetic fuels produced 40% less waste and harmful emissions than conventional fuels. As a result, the release of 13,500 tons of harmful gases per year will not be allowed.

Once the plant is operational, 1,300 specialists will have high-paying, permanent jobs. The most gratifying thing is that about 80% of the specialists involved in the construction of the plant are our local staff, young people who are eager to work. This experience will be very useful in the future in the construction of new industrial facilities in our country.

We have learned to live and work hard to bring our country to the ranks of developed countries and create a decent standard of living for our people, no matter how difficult it may be.

We can achieve such great goals without fear of difficulties, by acquiring new knowledge and technologies, and by working together.
