The fate of our mother tongue is in our hands!

Language is a symbol of country’s power and authority. On the 32nd anniversary of the status of our mother tongue, the symbol of our national and cultural wealth, statehood, pride and honor, is widely celebrated at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy under the motto "The fate of our mother tongue is in our hands!".
As part of the month of events dedicated to the Day of the Uzbek language, "The fate of our native language is in our hands!" competition of journalistic articles, competition of essays on "People's longevity is in their language", competition of videos on "Mother tongue will not die", competitions of young artists have been held under the motto "My mother tongue, powerful, kind, You are the victorious dream of the Turkic World - I will write you, resurrected world". More than 60 students have participated in the competition.
On October 20, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a roundtable discussion on "Improving the use of the Uzbek language in government agencies" with the participation of Foreign Ministry officials, diplomats, representatives of our embassies abroad and UWED students. It tells about the great achievements in the field of language, the attention paid to our language at the level of state policy, the role of Uzbek as an official language in all spheres, its status in international documents, high cultural language issues, language problems. The participants of the event identified the necessary tasks for further improvement of the state language.
On October 21, Ulugbek Hamdam, a well-known writer, poet, translator and literary scholar, Doctor of Philology, held an online roundtable discussion on "Language is a mirror of spirituality" through the ZOOM program.
The event was attended by UWED faculty and students. In her introductory speech, the head of the department of Uzbek and Russian languages M. Abdurahmanova congratulated all those present and briefed on the achievements of the language since the date of its status, as well as the problems of its present and future. Associate Professor, Ph.D. Sh. Normatova noted the great contribution of the creative people - poets and writers - in demonstrating the power and potential of the Uzbek language. Then it was the turn of Ulugbek Hamdam. The speaker emphasized the importance of the Uzbek language holiday, its essence and value; language and literature, their place in society, in the spiritual life of man, and the problems they have to think about. Known as a writer, poet and critic, the multi-faceted artist's lively, comprehensive and meaningful speech left a deep impression on the audience.
At the end of the meeting, the students addressed their questions to the distinguished guest, listened to interesting answers and received useful advice. The students recited poems by Ulugbek Hamdam, which gave a special poetic spirit to the holiday.
This meeting was the culmination of a month-long campaign under the motto "The fate of our native language is in our hands!".
