Turkic Council organized the International Conference on the Scientific Heritage of Mahmud Kashgari

The Turkic Council Secretariat in partnership with the Istanbul, Marmara Universities and Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies organized the international conference in hybrid format on the topic of “Scientific Heritage of Mahmud Kashgari and its place in the development of Turkology of the third millennium” in Istanbul.
During the two days event, over 30 speakers and 40 experts from 9 countries, representing 16 universities and organizations from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Iran, Russia, Ukraine and the US participated in the event. Head of the Department of Uzbek and Russian Languages Mehribon Abdurakhmanova made a speech at the conference “The scientific heritage of Mahmud Kashgari and his role in the development of Turkology of the third millennium” in Istanbul, Turkey. The report was dedicated to "Analysis of the vocabulary" Devani lugatit Turk "and the important tasks that modern Uzbek linguistics faces now".
The opening ceremony of the conference was held in the historical building of Istanbul University, which was established almost 600 years ago as the first higher education institution in this geography. The following sessions continued at the Headquarter of the Turkic Council and concluded at the University of Marmara.
The conference participants emphasized that the work of Mahmud Kashgari “Dīvānu Luğāti-t-Türk” is one of the first unique scientific written monuments of the Turkic peoples, which directly related to the history of all modern dialects of the Turkic language.
The Deputy Secretary General Mr. Mirvokhid Azimov emphasized that such events will serve to involve higher education institutions and research centers of the Turkic Council Member States in promotion and popularization of the Turkic World heritage. He noted that Turkic Council fully supports such initiatives and that this conference will expand the cultural and humanitarian ties of Turkic peoples.
