Cultural cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNESCO

A republican scientific and practical conference "Uzbekistan and UNESCO: the history of formation and prospects for the development of cultural ties" was held at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies. The initiator of the forum was the Research Center for the Study of the Culture and Heritage of the East, which operates at this university. The cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNESCO this year marks 28 years, said Director of the Center D. Saifullaev. During this period, a lot of activities were carried out in the republic to strengthen the relationship with this authoritative international organization in the spheres of culture, education, science, information, law, etc. speeches of conference participants, representatives of ministries, government, scientists, researchers, teachers of leading universities of Uzbekistan.
The audience was addressed by the First Deputy Minister of Higher and Secondary Special Education K.Kh. Karimov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs and Interparliamentary Relations of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis K. A. Dzhuraev, Rector of TSUV G. Sh Rikhsieva, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Academician A. Askarov, Associate Professor of UWED M. A. Rakhimova, Vice-Rector of the National Institute of Arts and design by D. Kurbanova and others. A new edition of the book "Central Asia at the crossroads of world civilizations" was presented at the conference. The speakers spoke about the international significance of UNESCO's initiatives, activities, its contribution to the preservation of the cultural, spiritual and intangible heritage of our country and the republics of Central Asia, about the prospects for expanding sites for inclusion in the UNESCO list.
Representatives of the UWED also expressed their views on the issues discussed. M.A. Rakhimova devoted her report to the legal aspects of cooperation between scientists of the republic and UNESCO, shared the experience of the teaching staff of the department of the university "International Law and Human Rights of UNESCO".
In the discussions and work of the section, proposals were made on the importance of preserving historical sites, on expanding domestic and international tourism, on attracting international specialists to joint archaeological research of ancient settlements and monuments. The proposal was supported to prepare a collection of scientific articles on the topic of the conference for publication".
