At the beginning of the meeting, the Vice-rector for International Relations of UWED, professor S. Saidkasimov again outlined in detail the goals and objectives defined at the video conference of the head of our state Shavkat Mirziyoyev on May 6 of this year “On measures to improve the system of teaching foreign languages”.
Organizational issues related to equipping the Japanese language department at the newly established Center for Advanced Foreign Language Training at the UWED were discussed in detail, where civil servants, teachers and young people will soon be able to strengthen their knowledge of foreign languages, including getting more detailed information about Japanese culture, traditions and language.
Mr Fujiyama Yoshinori once again highly appreciated the idea of creating a Center at the UMED and the project of teaching Japanese in it and stressed that this will create a basis for improving the quality of training of Uzbek specialists familiar with the language and culture of Japan. It was also recommended to make extensive use of Japanese international organizations’ financial potential, particularly the Representative Offices of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and several other Japanese organizations and foundations.
Japanese Ambassador Fujiama Yoshinori spoke about the mechanism for allocating the necessary grants by these organizations and expressed his readiness to support the efforts of UWED in obtaining the necessary equipment and equipment for the Center’s activities in this way.
The Ambassador also confirmed his intention to assist JICA in providing 2 qualified volunteer teachers of the Japanese language to work at the center next year.
In conclusion, Professor S. Saidkasimov thanked the Japanese side for organizing this meeting and expressed hope for the continuation of a constructive dialogue to achieve concrete results and practical actions to expand the study and promotion of culture, language, and modern technological achievements of Japan in Uzbekistan.
