At the initiative of the head of our state, practical work is underway to establish a Center for in-depth teaching of foreign languages on the basis of the University of world economy and diplomacy. Today the rector of UWED Komiljon Karimov met online with the UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan Matilda Dimovska.
The parties considered as the main task of the agenda the project of creating a Center for in-depth teaching of foreign languages, which is organized in the UWED. UNDP is an active participant in various reforms in Uzbekistan, and the Head of the UNDP mission highly appreciated the structure of this center and its future activities.
She noted that the focus in the field of education – the study of the working languages of the United Nations, such as Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish, as well as other foreign languages, will have a positive impact on the development of the country. The draft memorandum of the center, which was exchanged between the parties, defined the teaching of foreign languages in a modern and effective way, through which professional retraining and advanced training of civil servants and students are carried out.
The UN Development Program has been operating in Uzbekistan since 1993. This allows them to assess impartially how much the country has developed over the past period. In recent years, Uzbekistan has been pursuing a policy of reforms and openness to the outside world. This situation has a positive impact not only on Uzbekistan but also on the international relations and cooperation of the whole of Central Asia.
At the end of the conversation, Matilda Dimovska once again expressed the readiness of the UN Development Program Office to cooperate with the government and the University to develop the knowledge and skills of civil servants, young people in the Center for Advanced Study of Foreign Languages, training qualified specialists in international relations and regional issues.
