A meeting was held for the Uzbek-Pakistani business community on the topic “Uzbekistan and Pakistan – Prospects for Cooperation within the SCO”. It was attended by Director of the Center for Public Diplomacy Kabuljon Sabirov, President of the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies (IPDS) Farhat Asif, Vice-rector for International relations, professor of UWED Saidmukhtor Saidkasimov, doctor of political sciences, professor Etibor Sultanova and experts from our country and abroad.
The main purpose of the meeting is to discuss cooperation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan within the SCO. As you know, Uzbekistan supported the admission of Pakistan to the SCO in June 2017 and paid special attention to this issue during its chairmanship in the organization. Both countries mutually support each other in the international arena, actively interacting within the framework of such international organizations as the UN, the SCO, the Islamic Cooperation Organization and others.
The consistent development of Uzbek-Pakistani relations meets the long-term interests of not only the two countries but also has a positive impact on strengthening security, developing trade, economic, communication and humanitarian ties in the region as a whole.
Taking into account the interest of both countries in expanding mutually beneficial cooperation, their geographical location, both States can play an important role in promoting peace processes in the region and economic revival in the region.
With this in mind, it is interesting and useful to discuss possible prospects for cooperation at the regional level in the socio-economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
At the meeting, after listening to the lectures, discussions were held on the questions raised among the participants. Conclusions were made on the topic.
