On June 1, was held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Uzbekistan, Mrs. Jiang Yan. In it, the rector of the university Komiljon Karimov informed the Ambassador in detail about the profound transformations in the socio-economic development of the republic, revealed the novelty and essence of the fundamental reforms of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, answered the ambassador's questions regarding the prospects for the development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and China and cooperation between the UWED and Chinese universities. They also discussed the creation of a system that includes the teaching of Chinese in the newly created UWED Center for Advanced Foreign Language Training.

The PRC recognized Uzbekistan's independence on December 27, 1991, and diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on January 2, 1992. Over the past 29 years, 19 summits of the leaders of the two countries have been held, with the Presidents of the People's Republic of China Jiang Zemin, Hu Jintao and Xi Jinping visiting Uzbekistan.

We should also not forget that 29 years is only a moment in the thousand-year history of friendly exchanges between the countries, but during this short period, modern interstate relations have been brought to the level of comprehensive strategic partnership, and the states have established mutually beneficial cooperation in almost all areas.

Today, the parties maintain a high level of political trust, consistently promote trade and economic, investment, scientific and technical, transport and agricultural cooperation, and intensify the cultural and humanitarian exchange between the peoples.

At the same time, Uzbekistan attaches priority importance to further strengthening the strategic partnership with the People's Republic of China, expanding multifaceted trade, economic, investment and financial cooperation based on the principles of mutual benefit, consideration of interests and equality.

In turn, Mrs. Jiang Yan spoke about the development of Uzbek-Chinese relations from year to year, the two countries have become reliable partners in trade, economic, social, cultural and humanitarian issues, meetings and dialogues of the heads of state at the highest level open the way to this, as well as the prospects for cooperation between Shanghai University and UWED.

After that, the ambassador expressed his readiness to provide the embassy with all the necessary assistance – teaching methods, textbooks, specialists and technical equipment to create a Chinese language department in the centre for advanced foreign language training at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.

An agreement was reached on the development of mutual cooperation and cultural ties between the parties, the organization of meetings and lectures with the Chinese Ambassador to the UWED.
