On the Independence Day of Georgia, UWED hosted an online lecture by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Uzbekistan Zurab Abdushelishvili to students, researchers and teachers. The high guest was welcomed and congratulated on this historic date by the Vice-Rector for International Relations of the UWED, Professor S. Saidkasimov.

Mr Z.During in his speech, Abdushelishvili comprehensively covered the topic “Modern Georgia and the world community”, spoke about the rich history, national traditions and modern achievements of his state, and also spoke about the activities of the embassy to develop mutually beneficial cooperation between Georgia and Uzbekistan.

Currently, Georgia maintains diplomatic relations with 180 countries around the world. In its foreign policy, special attention is also paid to the republics of Central Asia. In particular, diplomatic relations between Georgia and Uzbekistan were established on August 19, 1994. Our countries cooperate in the fields of transport, energy, agriculture and pharmaceuticals, and we are developing cooperation in the fields of tourism, healthcare, and creating a sustainable investment climate. In his speech, Mr Z. Abdushelishvili expressed gratitude to the leadership of Uzbekistan for the humanitarian assistance to Georgia during the pandemic.

The lecture of the Georgian Ambassador, filled with many figures, facts, and concrete examples, aroused great interest among the audience. A number of questions were asked, to which the students received detailed answers.

During the online discussion, showed special activity the teacher N. Muminova and the 2nd-year students of the Faculty of “International Relations” U. Dzhangchiddinov, M. Sobirova and other researchers.

An agreement was reached with the assistance of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in scientific and educational cooperation between the UWED and the leading universities of Georgia.
