24.05.2021 1960
The University of World Economy and Diplomacy sees one of its main tasks in training competitive specialists, in establishing a strong connection between the university and production, in creating conditions for the employment of all graduates in the chosen specialty. For this purpose, various meetings, introductory and qualification practices, internships, round tables with managers, specialists of production facilities, research centres, and organizations are held.
But the most ambitious and vividly remembered form of interaction with production workers is the holding of a Career Day and a Job Fair at the university. On May 21, 2021, a meeting of students, graduates of bachelor's and master's degrees, doctoral students with representatives of more than one hundred organizations, ministries, departments, international, commercial and state enterprises, institutions took place. The participants of this event gathered in the assembly hall, they were greeted by the fiery words of the leading students, they expressed gratitude for their cooperation and willingness to be responsible and worthy when choosing the jobs and positions offered to them. Rector of UWED Komiljon Karimov addressed the guests and students. He noted that the university is preparing to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its foundation. More than 6 thousand graduates have studied here during this time, they work in leading organizations and representative offices, both in Uzbekistan and in many foreign countries, embassies, consulates, international centres. The university staff strives to prepare specialists not only with high qualifications but also with a high civic sense of responsibility for their business and the prosperity of their native country, its future. This year, about 500 students are completing their studies in various areas of the UWED. The rector also noted that the novelty of the current Career Day was the creation of the Career Center and its website (https://t.me/UWEDCareerCentre), which provides extensive information for all students, alumni and university staff about available vacancies and offers invitations to cooperate with various employer organizations. Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Shaydogul Zakirova in her speech emphasized the importance of the event, spoke about the state policy in the development of innovation, investment and support of talented, enterprising young specialists.
Gulbahor Yuldasheva spoke on behalf of the UWED alumni association, she graduated from the Faculty of International Law 26 years ago, and thanks to such days, meeting students with employers, she found her favourite job, trained abroad, now works in the French campaign, invites those who know French to cooperate.
Students did not disregard almost any of the organizations that visited the university and offered their employment services. Some chose state institutions, other private enterprises, young people were interested in everything and conditions, working hours, and the possibility of combining professional work with advanced training abroad, at educational courses, and providing a place of residence, housing. From the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, students are advised by the heads of departments B. Sotiboldiev and K. Oripov. They were surrounded by graduates of the Faculty of International Law Kholmukhammad Abdurasulov, Orifjon Soliev and others. Here is the doctoral economist Elyor Moiliev. Everyone has a lot of questions, all their consultants answer in detail, give them brochures, materials, telephones. The centre is a long-term partner of UWED, many graduates successfully work in its various structures, departments, among them, the director E.K. Aripov, specialists R. Khurramov, K. Allaberganov and others.
Akhmedov Kairat is a first-year student of the Faculty of International Relations, to my surprised question, you are not a graduate, why did you take business cards from the Development Strategy Center, he replied: “I love analytics and I was interested in their multifaceted work, I want to test myself. I was offered to try first as a trainee". It is noteworthy that he is consulted by an employee of the centre, an economist, Iskandar Urokbaev, a graduate of the UWED.
The joint-stock company "Uzbekkumir" is participating in the UWED Job Fair for the first time, their office is located in Angren, more than 10 people left them their resumes, many were attracted by the proposed working conditions, high salaries, housing, etc. To work at their enterprises, accountants, economists, lawyers. Mobile and cellular companies Ucell, MobiUz, the markets chain Makro, Vivo, banking and insurance organizations, legal, law centres have also attracted the attention of young people. Among the invitees were Asia Alliance Bank, Hamkorbank, Microcreditbank, Khalk Bank and others.
In seven areas, 160 students graduate from the UWED master's program this year, notes the dean of this department, Doctor of Science Otabek Nayimov. Almost 90 percent of students combine training with production. At the same time, some of the undergraduates, having met with employers, leave their resumes, take contact numbers, want to know more closely the specifics of other jobs. Master's student Fazlidin Ataullaev (direction - World politics) wants to continue to engage in scientific research, he was interested in academic, research centres, for example, ISRS. Nozima Musaeva is studying in the direction of Guides and translation activities, therefore she is interested in the proposals of travel organizations. Irina Pak unambiguously decided to go to commercial and private organizations, in her opinion, there is more to show independence and to test the creativity of thinking. Master's student Maftuna Karimkulova has her selection criteria, she needs to combine work with her family, as she wants to look after the child herself and prepare him for kindergarten.
Much organizational work on the Career Day was carried out by the administration, the department of practice, internships and career-monitoring, deans of faculties and other departments of the university. The head of the Department of Practice D. Riskidinova, summing up the results of the work, notes that all the participants – guests of the Job Fair were handed out questionnaires, this was a kind of sociological survey. Questions were asked: do UWED graduates work in their organization and what are the reviews about them, how many graduates they can hire, would they like to conclude a memorandum with the university for students to undergo practical training, internships, mark their reviews, wishes for the event, meetings of employers with students. The answers were different, some indicated that they could hire two or three this year, others paid more attention to accepting trainees, and still, others answered that they would take students for work as volunteers, in reserve, etc. The answers were different, some indicated that they could hire two or three this year, others paid more attention to accepting trainees, and still, others answered that they would take students for work as volunteers, in reserve, etc. But everyone welcomed such open meetings with future specialists, they heard their wishes, interests, this allows us to adjust both advertising activities and work with young personnel.
In general, the Career Day at UWED left a lot of impressions and helped students to better understand the labour market and the requirements for modern specialists.
