The University of world economy and diplomacy has organized a Republican scientific and practical conference on the topic “Central and South Asia: modern state of regional and interregional relations”, dedicated to the role of Central and South Asia in modern international relations, as well as the prospects of interregional cooperation.

The event was attended by representatives and experts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the University of world economy and diplomacy, the Academy of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan,  the Higher School of Strategic Analysis and Forecasting, the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, Coordination and Methodological Center of the Modern History of Uzbekistan of the Academy of Sciences and also other leading information and analytical centers and higher educational institutions of the republic.

 During the speeches and discussions of experts, a special place was allocated to discuss the issues of strengthening regional and interregional security and stability, participation of Central and South Asian countries and non-regional actors in the ongoing processes. The conference allowed to exchange views on the current state of cooperation between the countries of Central and South Asia, on the development of relations between the regions in the transport-logistics, infrastructure, energy and trade and economic spheres. In particular, the participants of the event also touched upon the growing role of Uzbekistan in Central and South Asia, as well as the new regional policy of the Tashkent, which gives additional impulsion to regional changes.

According to the results, it was noted that such events are important both for the development of scientific cooperation and for bringing to the general public the efforts of Uzbekistan aimed at conducting an open, practical and updated foreign policy, which will be demonstrated as a reliable partner of the countries of Central and South Asia.
