The University of World Economy and Diplomacy hosted a scientific and practical international conference on the topic: "Priorities of the foreign policy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in modern conditions: economics, law, politics". The conference was attended by deputies of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, representatives of international organizations, foreign scientists and experts, and the teaching staff of the UWED.
The modern world is changing under the influence of new threats and challenges. Thus, the COVID-19 pandemic has become a global challenge to the world and has shown how fragile humanity is, states are interconnected, and the whole world is a single whole. In these circumstances, the worthy place of the state in the international arena depends on a number of factors, first of all, on the consistently pursued foreign policy of the country. Uzbekistan has gained a well-deserved reputation in the world community, thanks to a consistent, comprehensively balanced, pragmatic foreign policy. Uzbekistan's foreign policy initiatives, which were voiced by the President of our country from the highest international rostrums, including the UN tribune, also played a high role.
In the opening part of the conference, the director of the SCO Center for People's Diplomacy in Uzbekistan, Kobuljon Sobirov, noted that Uzbekistan conducts a comprehensively balanced, consistent and pragmatic foreign policy based on the interests of the people. The peace-loving foreign policy of Uzbekistan can be traced in all foreign policy initiatives and is aimed at establishing peace and stability primarily in Central Asia. Parliamentary and people's diplomacy is developing as instruments of a peaceful foreign policy.
As it was emphasized at the event, at the current stage, joint efforts are needed to restore the global economy from the consequences of the pandemic under the auspices of the International Year of Peace and Trust, which was proclaimed by the UN.
The scientific conference discussed issues of strengthening friendly relations with strategic partners of Uzbekistan, trends in the development of tourism in the modern world, the impact of international ratings and indices on the image of the country and other issues on topical issues of modern international relations, international economics and law.
