On March 4, was held a round table with UNDP Resident representative in Uzbekistan Matilda Dimovska and students at the University of world economy and diplomacy. The event was beginning with an opening speech by the UWED rector Komiljon Karimov and he introduced the distinguished guest to the students Matilda Dimovska.

After that, the students made presentations based on their knowledge of the United Nations Development program. UNDP opened its office in Uzbekistan in January 1993 and since then has been actively promoting the development of the country. UNDP is committed to implementing economic and social reforms in the country and improving the well-being of the Uzbek people. UNDP activities in Uzbekistan focus on two thematic areas, namely good governance and sustainable development.

The Sustainable development Goals, also known as the “global goals”, are a universal call to action to eradicate poverty, protect the planet and bring peace and prosperity to all people. The SDGs have 17 important directions, such as no poverty, zero hunger, good health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth, climate action, peace, justice and strong institutions.

After the presentation of UWED students, Ms. Matilda thanked the university staff for an interesting meeting today and highly appreciated the preparation of students for the presentation. She also shared additional information on the activities of the Development program and expressed gratitude for the cooperation of Uzbekistan in this project.

At the end of the meeting, which took place in an open and friendly atmosphere, the participants asked questions to the representative of the international organization.
