With the organizational support of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Azerbaijan, was held an online lecture by the head of the club of political scientists "South Caucasus" Ilgar Velizade on the topic "Geopolitics of the Caspian".

The meeting, organized for students of the University of world economy and diplomacy, was opened by the introductory speech of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Bahrom Ashrafkhanov. In his speech, he emphasized the great interest of Uzbekistan in the development of comprehensive cooperation with Azerbaijan, while highlighting the role of interaction in the humanitarian sphere.

The lecture of the Azerbaijani political scientist and publicist Ilgar Velizade on the geopolitics of the Caspian region is based on the materials of the monograph "Geopolitics of the Caspian Sea". The monograph presents the author's idea to give his own interpretation of what to call the "Caspian region", how to determine its borders, by what signs to judge the nature of interaction between the Caspian countries and neighboring countries and regions.

And also, the issues of political relations, security and military construction are considered separately. At the same time, an important distinguishing feature of the lecture is that there are no main and secondary topics for the author. All the topics covered in the lecture are equally important and exclusive for the Caspian region. One of these topics, of course, is the topic of "ecology" of the Caspian Sea.

The main part of the event was closed by the rector of UWED Komiljon Karimov. He thanked the lecturer for an interesting, detailed report and touched upon the importance of enhancing scientific exchange and developing ties between scientists and researchers of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. In his opinion, this will serve to improve the quality of scientific research, will give impetus to joint exploration work in various areas. Ilgar Velizade, also, expressed his gratitude to the administration of the university and gathered young people.

As a result of the lecture, it was decided to continue the good practice of such relatives, including through offline communication after the end of the pandemic.
