Mushtariy Usmanova,
1st year student of the “International relations” faculty of the UWED

On January 13, 2021, a meeting of students and faculty with the heads of diplomatic missions of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. In particular, the meeting was attended by the Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Austria, Great Britain, Israel, India, Malaysia, the United States, as well as permanent representatives at the UN Office in Geneva and at UNESCO. It should be noted that all of them are graduates of our university and, like us, many years ago they sat in classrooms, attentively listening to the lectures of professors who are still training future specialists. The meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere in the format of "free dialogue".

Undoubtedly, this was a wonderful opportunity for students to learn more about the activities of diplomats and further prospects for the development of this area, we got a tremendous experience and impression from the above persons. Examples of building your own career as a diplomat and advices on further development were given, and certain literature was recommended. I would also like to note the historical significance of this event, because a meeting of such a format was held for the first time in the entire existence of the university.

I remember very much the phrase of Feruza Yuldashevna Makhmudova, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Israel: “Dreams come true, you need to set a goal and go towards it. Most importantly, never stop learning and believing in yourself and your capabilities. " By her own example, Mrs. Makhmudova proved the truth of these words. As a woman in the male, as it is commonly believed, profession, having passed many difficult tests, she showed the whole society that diligence, love and respect for her profession, patriotism and knowledge accumulated over the years will help to achieve her goal. Feruza Yuldashevna is an example for all young and ambitious girls of Uzbekistan who strive to take an active part in the internal and external political life of our Motherland.

High-ranking guests shared with us not only the prospects for the further development of relations with their host countries, but also their memories of their student years at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. Their friendly attitude to each other, as well as to the current rector of the university Komiljon Karimov, who also studied at the UWED at the Faculty of International Relations, was noticeable.

The result of this event was the awarding of memorable gifts on behalf of the UWED to the Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the presentation of special UWED medals, which is a great rarity and honor. This proves once again that the university supports its students both during their studies and after graduation in realizing themselves as diplomats and politicians.

I would like to conclude this article with the words of the Vice-Rector for International Relations Saidmukhtar Saidgazievich Saidkasimov, who was the first rector of the UWED and headed it during the student years of our guests: “In fact, it is very nice to hear from our guests what we told them 20-30 years ago ... Now they say this to our students with pride and confidence." Our country places great hopes on the youth, and I can say with confidence that by adopting the experience of our teachers and respected diplomats, we will also be able to achieve great success in the area that we have chosen and become "ambassadors of New Uzbekistan", raise the country's authority even more and prove to the whole world that Uzbekistan is a country of opportunities and great achievements.

My impressions of the meeting with the heads of the representative offices of the Republic of Uzbekistan abroad.

Today, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy hosted a meeting of students with the heads of diplomatic missions of the Republic of Uzbekistan abroad. We, UWED students, express our deep gratitude and thank the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as the university administration for the opportunity to communicate with the ambassadors of Uzbekistan offline.

The meeting was attended by the ambassadors of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Austria, Great Britain, the United States, India, Malaysia, Israel - the first woman ambassador and permanent representatives of the Republic of Uzbekistan at the UNESCO and UN offices.

Dear ambassadors, being graduates of UWED, familiarized students with the difficulties arising in the diplomatic service, as well as ways to prevent them. During the event, the ambassadors of the Republic of Uzbekistan shared not only warm reminiscences about their student days, but also introduced them to the prospects for cooperation between our country and the states in which they are accredited.

There was a free exchange of views among the diplomats, and they also answered the questions of interest to the students, thanking the teaching staff for the hard work in the name of strengthening the country's position in the international arena.

I am Ilmiddinova Madina  being a student of the Faculty of International Relations, being a member of the International Association of Students of Political Science, as well as the chairman of the "Girls Leaders" club, I received an answer to my question asked by Feruza Yuldashevna, the first ambassador to a woman, in whom the students see an example of perseverance and determination. The ambassador stressed that it is necessary to always work on yourself, improve and achieve your goals in the name of the prosperity of your homeland.

The future of the New Uzbekistan is in the hands of Youth

Indeed, today, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan is carrying out a number of reforms in the field of foreign policy in all directions. Today, we bring answers to all questions of our interest through direct open communication with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassadors. Among such meetings, we can give an example of the “Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassadors and students” meeting organized today at our university.

During this historic meeting, we were able to communicate not only with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassadors of the Republic of Uzbekistan, but also with the Permanent Representatives of our country operating in foreign organizations.

At the meeting, the support of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy to the proposal to organize the “Graduates’ Association” was remembered as an unforgettable event for our students.

During the conversation, we received a detailed answer from the Ambassadors to the questions of interest to the students. Personally, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Israel, Feruza Mahmudova, said to the students: “Dreams really come true. Just trying to do this, you need confidence and deep knowledge. I am sure that after several years in the field in which we operate, you will reach a qualified personnel whose students also have their positions”.

Of course, being a patriot is a huge responsibility for each of us. After all, the future of the New Uzbekistan is in the hands of Youth.

Meeting of diplomats-graduates of UWED with university students

On January 13, 2020, the University of world economy and diplomacy hosted a meeting of the heads of diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan abroad with UWED students. The meeting aroused great interest among the audience: in total, more than 100 people took part in the event, including active university students, faculty and others. The conversation took place in a friendly atmosphere, diplomats-graduates of UWED spoke about their experience of becoming heads of missions and what tasks are now being set by the country's leadership on the threshold of the Third Renaissance.

This meeting left an indelible impression on me. This was a great opportunity for us, the students of the university, to personally communicate with the heads of our diplomatic missions abroad. It should be noted that all of them were once also students of our Alma Mater, which prompted us to be motivated for further study and self-development. This conversation created a unique platform for the exchange of opinions, and saying that this meeting was historic, I will not be mistaken, because for the first time in the history of the university, we can observe the contact of the first graduates with students who are now receiving education at the educational institution in order to reach the same heights as their mentors in the faces of the current heads of diplomatic missions. On behalf of all students, I express my gratitude to the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UWED for organizing this event and hope that these meetings will be held in a regular format.

To pursue a strong, effective foreign policy, we must have a strong diplomatic corps. The open and practical dialogue that took place with our strong diplomats at a time when time itself dictates the need to further improve the system of training diplomatic personnel, left an unforgettable impression on all participants of the meeting, and on me. Our highly respected ambassadors, who are the face of our country in the international arena, shared the difficulties they face in their responsible activities, knowledge and skills that will become constant companions of real diplomats. As a young diplomat, a participant in a meeting of special symbolic and historical significance, I had the opportunity to address our dear ambassadors on topical issues of particular interest to me, and get concrete, well-founded, practical answers to them. In short, the meeting held in our university, which created the basis of diplomacy of independent Uzbekistan, was another big step on the way to training personnel worthy of the New Uzbekistan.

Aggression. Knowledge. Patience. Three significant words that have been repeated many times by our distinguished ambassadors. All these qualities should be in the piggy bank of a potential diplomat.

Looking forward to the meeting, I assumed that the meeting would be saturated with formalism. However, in practice, I witnessed the manifestation of nostalgia and love for our university on the part of our diplomats. It felt like we were sitting around a campfire and our guests were sharing their views, advice and experiences. As a second year student, I became convinced that it is necessary to set goals on a universal scale and, in turn, work on myself in the appropriate quantities.

After this businesslike, but at the same time, friendly meeting, I can draw the following conclusion: I liked very much that the organizers managed to combine the interests of all participants, ambassadors and students in one field.  I express my deep gratitude to the ambassadors of our Republic for the rich and fruitful conference program, its high professional level and the relevance of the proposed topics.  I looked at many things with some specific approach.  I have no doubt that this will give practical benefits.  It was not only useful, but also pleasant to communicate with experts in this diplomatic field.  I can say with confidence that the conference met my expectations, and this event was an important and special moment in the process of my training.  We received a lot of recommendations, wishes, suggestions for the further promotion of these works.
