From October 19 to October 26, 2020, the UN week is held at UWED and TSUL, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of this organization.

On October 19, the opening of this week took place at a round table organized jointly by UWED and TSUL. The event was held online.

The event was attended by the faculty, students and doctoral students of UWED and TSUL, as well as representatives of the Center for Advanced Studies of Lawyers, Karakalpak State University, law faculties in Namangan, Termez and Samarkand, as well as the Academy of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Rector of UWED K. Karimov and Rector of TSUL R. Khakimov made a welcoming speech at the event.

In his welcoming speech, UWED Rector K. Karimov noted the growing role of the UN in the world, explained the tasks set 75 years ago, which remain relevant to this day, gave an explanation to the three pillars of the UN: preserving peace, restoring the world economy and ensuring human rights and freedoms. It was especially noted that in October 2020, Uzbekistan was elected to the UN Human Rights Council, which testifies to the recognition by the international community of Uzbekistan's achievements in the field of human rights, a high assessment of the reforms and transformations carried out in the country in general.

As the President of Uzbekistan Sh. Mirziyoyev notes, the demand for the United Nations is growing, especially at the present time, when the world community has to activate all its forces and capabilities in order to adapt to new realities.

The Rector of TSUL R. Khakimov noted that over the years of cooperation with the UN, Uzbekistan not only ratified a huge number of international treaties adopted within the UN framework, established effective cooperation with specialized UN agencies and UN human rights bodies, took measures to achieve the SDGs, but also put forward a number of initiatives to strengthen cooperation within this organization and to solve global problems.

During the speeches, a general overview of the results of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly in general was given, in particular, a brief analysis of the initiatives put forward during the speeches of representatives of all states during the annual general debate in the UN General Assembly.

Special attention was paid to the issues of achieving global and national sustainable development goals.

Special attention was paid to the analysis of Uzbekistan's initiatives put forward at the 75th anniversary session of the UN General Assembly, during the general debate in the UN General Assembly, held on September 22-29, 2020. It was noted that the initiatives of Uzbekistan at the 75th UN session covered almost all spheres of international life - political, economic, social, cultural and environmental. At the same time, the initiatives were aimed both at strengthening the international legal framework and institutional mechanisms of cooperation within the UN. All initiatives received broad support from the world community.

A separate report was devoted to issues of human rights education, during which the importance of education in the field of human rights was emphasized, international and national experience in this area was highlighted, including the experience of teaching human rights at UWED and TSUL.

After the speeches, a discussion of a wide range of issues took place, which contributed to raising the awareness of the participants about the activities UN in general and UN cooperation with Uzbekistan, as well as the development of new proposals and ideas for strengthening cooperation.
