On September 15, 2020, with the assistance of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the United States, on-line negotiations began between the leadership of UWED and the University of Notre Dame.

The American side was represented by Jonathan Noble, Senior Assistant Vice-Rector for International Relations, and Catherine Wilson, Director of the Office of International Cooperation.

On behalf of UWED, the meeting was attended by the Vice-Rector for International Relations prof. S.Saidkasimov, Head of the Department of International Cooperation A.Mukhitdinov, Attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the USA Sherzod Rikhsibaev (graduate of UWED, 2016), graduate of the Faculty of Master's program "Guide support and translation activities" UWED (2019) Maryam Gataullina.

The parties exchanged presentations on the activities of their universities and discussed in detail the possibilities of joint cooperation in the educational sphere in the areas of the world economy, political science, the development of civil society, democratic institutions, as well as the exchange of experience in organizing on-line education in the pandemic.

As the beginning of cooperation, the American side was offered to start on-line courses of lectures and seminars for UWED students from October this year by professors of the University of Notre Dame.

Mr. Jonathan Noble expressed interest in establishing educational ties with UWED, justifying this by expanding academic partnerships with the Central Asian region.

The parties agreed to continue the presentation of UWED in the structural divisions and specialized faculties of the University of Notre Dame with the participation of their professors, teachers and researchers in order to more specifically and effectively discuss the practical possibilities of cooperation at the inter-faculty level.

Ms. Katherine Wilson, who has become the main coordinator of joint projects from the University of Notre Dame, will soon provide information on online educational programs in which UWED will be able to participate.

The preparation and signing of a Cooperation Agreement between UWED and the University of Notre Dame is planned.
