On June 2, 2020, on the University’s online conference platform, students and teachers of the UWED participated in a dialogue with the Deputy General Prosecutor of the Republic of Uzbekistan Svetlana Boymirzaevna Artykova on the topic: “Protection of Human Rights in the New Uzbekistan”. During the difficult period of quarantine, it became a good tradition to conduct online informal conversations with prominent representatives of various government bodies. During the dialogue Svetlana Artykova revealed important issues of protecting human rights, as well as the fulfilment by Uzbekistan of its obligations to the Human Rights Committee. Being a very interesting interlocutor, Svetlana Boymirzaevna focused on the protection of human rights during the pandemic, as well as the importance of crime prevention. The meeting was held in a dialogue format, issues of gender equality and mechanisms for protecting women and children’s rights in Uzbekistan were discussed in detail.

We express special gratitude to Svetlana Artykova for such a meaningful conversation and parting words to students for their future professional activities. Students invited the Deputy General Prosecutor for a personal meeting at the UWED after the removal of quarantine measures.
