On May 11, 2020, a “round table” was held in the videoconference mode, dedicated to current topics on the programme of work of UN International Law Commission.

The videoconference is organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a partnership with the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. It was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, UWED, TSUL, the Lawyers` Training Center as well as other scientific and academic communities of the country.

During the round table, the participants discussed the topics “Peremptory norms of general international law (jus cogens)” and “Provisional application of treaties”, as well as draft conclusions and guidelines developed by the International Law Commission within the framework of these topics.

At the same time, the following goal was outlined - to enhance the participation of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the activities of international structures involved in the formation of norms of General International Law, and to ensure the best interests of our state in the international rule-making process.

It should be noted that this "round table" is the first event of its kind, achieving the involvement of broad scientific and academic communities in the discussion of issues of international law-making activities.

According to the outcomes of the videoconference, taking into account the views and opinions expressed by the participants, a number of proposals were elaborated to the position of Uzbekistan on the above-mentioned topics of the International Law Commission.
