Counsellor to the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development visited the UWED

The Senior Political Counsellor to the President of the EBRD for Russia, Central Asia and Mongolia, Mr. Jonathan Aves, during the visit of the EBRD President to Uzbekistan Suma Chakrabarti, visited the UWED and got acquainted with the activities, intellectual potential and prospects of the university. The high representative of a world-renowned financial institution was also interested in the expert opinion of the UWED scholars, in particular, had a conversation with the leading research fellow Akram Umarov.

Mr. Jonathan Ayves received detailed information about the achievements and main priorities of the government program for socio-economic reform, as well as the implementation of new initiatives of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh.Mirziyoyev.

An exchange of views took place on the prospects of cooperation between our republic and various regional and international integration formats, a new regional policy for cooperation between Uzbekistan and neighboring countries, the opportunities of the Belt and Road initiative in the infrastructure modernization of Central Asia, and the current situation in Afghanistan.

Mr. Jonathan Aves expressed his wish for further cooperation with the scholars of the UWED.
