On January 22, the UWED hosted an international thematic seminar in English devoted to the state, problems and prospects of interstate relations between Uzbekistan and India. The extraordinary and plenipotentiary Ambassador of India to Uzbekistan, Mr. Santosh Jha, took part in it. The seminar was led by the vice-rector for international relations prof. S. S. Saidkasimov, who circumstantially revealed the history, state and prospects of relations between India and Uzbekistan, in the light of the profound changes in the foreign policy of Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Sh.M.Mirziyoyev.

An adviser to the Embassy of India in Uzbekistan, Mr. Shipra Ghosh, military attache Mr. Nipun Anand, second secretary of the embassy ​​Ms. Aditi Valung, director of the Lal Bahadur Shastri Indian Cultural Center, prof. Chander Shekhar, Head of the Department of Science and Education of the SCO Center for Public Diplomacy F.M. Utbosarov, Chief Specialist of the Tourism and Media Department of the SCO Center for Public Diplomacy P. Saidakbarov, Vice-Rector for Youth Affairs L. U Mingishov, prof. Department of Socio-Political Sciences E.S. Sultanova, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of the Ministry of Defense S.K. Tillakhodzhaeva, PhD students and 1st year students of the Faculty of International Relations attended the seminar.

The extraordinary and plenipotentiary Ambassador of India to Uzbekistan

In his circumstantive report, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of India, Mr. Santosh Jha emphasized that “Bilateral relations between India and Uzbekistan are historical and civilizational. They go back thousands of years. Our relationship was built on interaction and interchange throughout our history. This enriched both our sides equally. They form the basis of the tremendous goodwill, close community and strategic partnership that we have created today”.

The seminar participants showed with concrete examples that, in recent years, cooperation between India and Uzbekistan has intensified significantly, including within the framework of the SCO. Today, India and Uzbekistan characterize more active external strategy and a focus on internal transformation, much more than many other countries in the world. This, in turn, creates new opportunities for cooperation and interaction, portending a new era in the bilateral relations of friendly countries.

In an active discussion, graduate students and students asked questions of their interests. Shahina Adilkhanova, a first-year student International Relations faculty asked “What difficulties does a novice diplomat face in his career ladder?” Kamronbek Davlatov found out that, “What kind of joint work can Uzbekistan and India carry out within the UNDP?” Ilkhom Muminov, a PhD student at the Department of Practical Analysis of International Problems, thanked Ambassador Mr. Santosh Jha for a detailed analytical speech on bilateral relations between India and Uzbekistan and on the modern role of India in the world, and asked about the possible extension of academic relations between universities in international relations and the availability of academic exchange programs, as well as the conduct of joint research in this area.

The conversation was lively, in the spirit of mutual friendship, causing students to be interested in this country.

Summing up the international thematic seminar, the Ambassador of India, Mr. Santosh Jha, emphasized the high scientific level of the discussion and his satisfaction with the great interest of students and researchers in modern India. An agreement was reached on the regular holding of analytical seminars with the active assistance the Embassy of India in Tashkent.
