The University of World Economy and Diplomacy hosted a Russian-Uzbek seminar on a comparative analysis of civil law and approaches to private international law, organized by MGIMO and UWED.

 The event was opened by MGIMO Vice-Rector A.V. Malgin and Vice-Rector for Science and Innovations of the UWED, Doctor of Law G.S. Ismailova.

In his speech, the Vice-Rector of the UWED for Science and Innovations, Doctor of Law G.S. Ismailova noted the importance of such seminars for the intellectual interaction of legal scholars, which undoubtedly serves the interests of both countries.

Employees of UWED together with representatives of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations comprehensively disclosed the essence of the topic in their reports.

During the first session on the development of public law branches in Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation, the features of the evolution of parliamentarism, the development of constitutionalism, and reforms in the field of administrative and financial law of the Republic of Uzbekistan were examined.

At the session, the Deputy Dean of the International Law Faculty of MGIMO, Associate Professor of the Department of Constitutional Law N.Yu. Molchakov made a report on the constitutional development of Russia.

The second session, “Development of Private Law Branches in Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation,” was devoted to improving the Civil Code of Uzbekistan, preparing a draft law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On international commercial arbitration,” the main directions of civil law reform and reforms in the field of international commercial arbitration in the Russian Federation.

The third session, Trends in Legal Education in Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation, discussed the main trends in the development of legal education in Uzbekistan, the legal regulation of the activities of educational organizations in the Russian Federation, the legal clinical education of students in UWED, the right of educational and scientific organizations to independently award academic degrees based on experience MGIMO, as well as the features of teaching legal disciplines at the International Law Faculty of MGIMO.

Among the Uzbek colleagues on issues of constitutionalism, parliamentarism and the sphere of administrative and financial law of Uzbekistan, S.M. Adilkhodzhaeva, A.E. Yuldashev, I.A. Khamedov spoke.

At the session “Development of Private Law Branches in Uzbekistan and Russia”, the head of the department of civil and arbitration proceedings A.A. Kalgina spoke, who highlighted the main directions of civil law reform in Russia, the assistant professor of international private and civil law M.A. Andrianova with a report on reforms in the field of international commercial arbitration in Russia. N.Kh. Rakhmankulova, D.I. Imamova (issues of improving the Civil Code) and Sh.M. Masadikov (international commercial arbitration) spoke on the development of the relevant branches of law in Uzbekistan.

At the end of the discussion, the parties discussed trends in the development of legal education in Russia and Uzbekistan. G.S. Ismailova and Z.S. Ubaidullaev told about the experience of the UWED. On the part of MGIMO, the head of the Legal Department of MGIMO-Odintsovo A.V. Tarasevich, graduate student of the Department of European Law I.A. Arsenyev and N.Yu. Molchakov spoke.

At the end of the seminar, participants of the event shared their views and suggestions on the development and improvement of civil law, in addition, approaches to issues of international private law were considered. This seminar will mark the beginning of the tradition of close cooperation between the UWED and MGIMO.
