An international conference was held at the Zhusup Balasagyn Kyrgyz National University dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Department of Periodical Press of the Faculty of Journalism of the University and Press Day. The department was the cradle of the training of highly qualified specialist journalists in the republic. More than 23 thousand students study at the university at 20 faculties. The journal faculty has three departments, a television studio, a radio studio, three computer classes, equipped classrooms and laboratories, more than 500 students have successfully mastered the profession of journalist/
An international conference was held at the Zhusup Balasagyn Kyrgyz National University dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the department of “Periodical Press” Not only its graduates, now well-known political figures, deputies, heads of information centers of the republic, but also guests from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, international organizations, scientists, specialists, experts in the field of mass media.
The conference was opened by Vice-Rector of KNU Sadik Alaxan (Tillebaev). He emphasized the importance of the activities of the Department of Periodical Press in the development of journalism in Kyrgyzstan and, in general, in the training of specialists for the republic’s media. Deputies of the Jogorku Kengash Kanybek Imanaliev, Ainura Askarova and others noted that graduates of journalistic specialties of the university are active political figures, out of 120 deputies of the Jogorku Kengash, seven are journalists.

The editors of leading newspapers, information centers and heads of other universities of the republic who spoke at the plenary session shared their memories and acquired knowledge within the walls of KNU. Scientists from Uzbekistan, Doctor of Philology, Professor of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy Fatima Muminova, Associate Professor of the National University of Uzbekistan Shavkat Ibragimov spoke at the plenary and sectional sessions, their speeches were devoted to the typology of the Uzbek media and the role of the media in establishing a dialogue platform between the state and the population.
Guests, colleagues from Kazakhstan, Professor Klara Kabylgazina, doctoral students of KazNU Nelya Rushanov and Aitolkyn Ashimova presented their presentations and reports on media problems in Kazakhstan, shared their journalistic experience. The participants of the international forum were awarded certificates. The second day of the conference was devoted to excursions to the sights of Kyrgyzstan.
