Literacy is a Sign of High Culture

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a Resolution on the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the law on the state language (21 October 1989).

"The Uzbek language, one of the oldest and richest languages in the world, is a symbol of national identity and independent statehood, an invaluable spiritual wealth, a great value for the political, social, spiritual and educational development of our country."

UWED is hosting a number of events under the motto: "My history, my destiny, my future, my native language".

The Uzbek language is actively used in all spheres of life-state and public administration, interstate relations, science, education, medicine, culture and art. It is indispensable for every specialist to be fluent in the state language and has a high level of written literacy.

In this regard, the mass dictation event, which began on October 18, 2019, aroused great interest among teachers, staff and students of UWED. Participants had the opportunity to test their literacy again.

The event was attended by more than 80 people. Nominations "the most literate student", "the most literate employee" and "the most literate teacher" are defined.
