On September 8-9 this year, students of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy took part as volunteer translators in the 14th Summit of Women Heads of Parliaments of the Member States of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, organized in Tashkent.

As a result of the summit of women heads of parliaments of the countries of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Tashkent Declaration was adopted. The summit was held to determine at the parliamentary level the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, gender equality and women's rights.

It is noted that on the second day of the summit with the participation of women leaders (speakers) of the parliaments of countries, women deputies, representatives of international organizations, Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Martin Chungong spoke.

Also Tanzila Narbaeva, referring to the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan to achieve gender equality, protect the rights and freedoms of women, ensure their legitimate interests, noted that this issue is a priority of state policy.

At the final session of the conference, it was noted that the summit provided an opportunity to take stock of the readiness and ability of parliaments to respond to gender issues, anticipate risks, and more effectively ensure peace, stability and prosperity. As a result of the summit, the Tashkent Declaration was adopted.

Note that the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which unites the parliaments of about 200 countries, is the largest platform for dialogue.

The summit, which is being held in Uzbekistan for the first time among the CIS countries, was attended by women leaders of the member states of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and international parliamentary partner organizations.
