This July a delegation from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, represented by Surayyo Usmanova and Kamilla Abdullaeva (professors of the International Law Faculty), Khulkar Karimova (a researcher of the university), and Umid Yakubkhodjaev (the dean of the Faculty of International Law) visited Switzerland to participate in the Summer Academy organized by the World Trade Institute, which a center of excellence at the University of Bern with an international, interdisciplinary focus, we explore the interconnections between the fields of law, economics and political science.

The trip was organized within the framework of the project “Promoting the process of Uzbekistan's accession to the World Trade Organization”, which is funded by the European Union and implemented by the World Trade Center in cooperation with the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

During the stay in Bern, the delegation was trained in the following modules of the Summer Academy:

1. "Strengthening the governance of agri-food trade" - lecturers Ken Ash and Christian Habern

2. "Recent developments in the field of international investment law and dispute resolution" - lecturers Michael Potesta, Christa Nadavukarer and Radrigo Polanco

The new knowledge and skills acquired during the training will be beneficial in improving the system of teaching and researching of the WTO related disciplines, as well as in establishing close cooperation with WTO.
