September 14, 2021 UWED was visited by a delegation of the JICA Representative Office in Uzbekistan - the Japan International Cooperation Agency.

In the negotiations from the Japanese side took part the head of the JICA Representative Office, Mr. Miyazaki Suguru, the representative of the organization in Uzbekistan Omori Shun, and the coordinator for administrative issues Damir Khabirov.

UWED was represented by Vice-Rector for International Relations Prof. Saidkasymov S.S., Head of the International Cooperation Department Mukhitdinov A.I., Head of the Department of Oriental Languages ​​Gafurova Kh.Sh. and Ibodova S. - translator, 4th year student of the Faculty of International Relations.

At the beginning of the conversation, prof. Saidkasymov S.S. noted the great contribution of JICA to the implementation of various large projects of the Japanese government in Uzbekistan over the years of independence, including specifically in the UWED.

During the period of many years of successful cooperation between UWED and JICA, a large number of various events were carried out, the contribution to the organization of professional study of the Japanese language was especially successful, including the active participation in this of the permanent volunteers of JICA at UWED.

At the meeting, the issue of expanding mutual cooperation within the framework of the activities of the Analytical Center for Japan Research at UWED, operating on the basis of the university, was separately touched upon.

The JICA representative office expressed interest in participating in seminars and consultations organized by the Japanese side, in the active involvement of UWED experts on regional aspects of international political and economic relations of the Central Asian countries and South Asia, paying special attention to the current situation in Afghanistan.

The parties discussed broad prospects for cooperation in the social sphere, political orientation, and economy. In addition, within the framework of the program of the JICA department, agreements were reached on a series of lectures for students on issues such as economic development, development models of countries, economic geography, strategic goals of countries and active participation in JICA projects.

During the meeting, other issues of further expansion of cooperation with JICA were discussed, in particular, about volunteer programs, organization and holding of traditional events "Days of Japan", "Days of Japanese culture" and other significant dates in UWED.

For reference: JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) was founded in 1954, the organization seeks to contribute to the development of international cooperation, as well as to the sustainable development of the Japanese and world economy by supporting socio-economic development, recovery or economic stability of developing regions. JICA in Uzbekistan cooperates on power generation and railway infrastructure development projects. The development of human resources is carried out through the activities of the Uzbek-Japanese Center, improvement of the legal system for entrepreneurship through projects in the field of agriculture and health.
