On September 6, 2019 UWED hosted a meeting with a delegation of Americans, consisting of professionals on journalism, business and many other spheres, organized as part of the New-York Times- Times Journeys program in order to promote Uzbekistan’s touristic potential abroad.  

The delegation led by Andrew Cramer, a Moscow based reporter of Times for the past decade, majoring in CIS affairs. The group also included Joyce Coleman, Texas University professor, Julie Weed, an expert at Microsoft corporation, Dale Anne Reiss, the economist at the Ernst & Young LLP as well as medical workers and other professionals.  

In a very interesting discussions, UWED graduate and bachelor’s degree students engaged in exchange of views on various subjects, such as history, culture, modern day life of Uzbek students and tourism. American guests noted the increasing human to human contracts between the people of US and Uzbekistan. They also shared their memorable times by visiting Bukhara, Samarkand and Khiva. UWED students interested in the life of American students and the academic exchange opportunities. American guests also visited university reading room, sport complex and the campus.
